Your wings await…

We often stay in our cramped, long-outgrown little nest, thinking this is where we are safe. But as we grow, that place that may have seemed comfortable at one point becomes painful.

“But if I jump, nothing will hold me up! I see no safe foundation! Just air! How will I survive? No! No! I’m staying put.”

So we continue to grow, and the little nest becomes more and more uncomfortable until it becomes more painful than the pesky fear of letting go…and so we jump.

But instead of plummeting to the ground, we float gracefully in the open sky. We’re overcome with joy to discover that we had wings all along.

A little reminder…

A little reminder to anyone who might need this today.

I know it sometimes seems like this isn’t true, but just because something SEEMS to be true doesn’t mean it IS true. There are many things that seem to be true but aren’t. It looks like the sun Continue Reading »

Your wings await…

Everyone has faith. Every time I sit in a chair, I have faith that it will hold me up. This isn’t wishcraft or blind faith; my faith is based on my many experiences of sitting in chairs.

Faith comes with experience, so it’s okay to be afraid of failing at something new. When I see those fears rear up, I don’t Continue Reading »

Maybe it’s time?

Be kind to yourself. How do we do that? Sometimes, it seems easier to be kind to everyone but ourselves.

One way to bring yourself into the kindness fold is to imagine yourself as someone you love. We all have certain individuals who pull our heartstrings. Maybe it’s your child, a parent or sibling. It can even be a beloved pet. (And it doesn’t matter if they seem to have passed on.)

Believe…

This is no fairy tale, however much it can seem like it’s not true. I’ve seen too many astounding things to believe otherwise, but it takes actual experiences; otherwise, it’s just blind faith.

So, how do we have these experiences? How do we begin to see that we aren’t these tiny, limited mortals at the mercy of so many things outside our control? Continue Reading »

Just hangin’ out…

I’m so happy that September is finally here! The house we’ve been building in Napa Valley has finally been completed, so we’ve been spending more time here. It doesn’t feel like September here, but the views from my new studio are so lovely.

Having faith that everything will be okay isn’t based on wishcraft; it’s based on spiritual principles. I know that appearances often don’t attest to this truth, but Continue Reading »

One of the first things that often happens as we begin to truly awaken spiritually is that our “comfort zones” become, well, uncomfortable. This is when we usually think all hell has broken loose and everything is falling apart.

Although they are familiar, comfort zones Continue Reading »

Where’s the joy?

Spiritual deep-diving isn’t for the faint of heart. I’ve had too many profound and wonderful experiences to count, but it can also be very challenging at times.

I’ve had several of what could be referred to as dark nights of the soul. One period I passed through, in particular, I can only describe as so dark that I would have never thought one could walk through such a thing and live to tell about it. (If you are walking through your own dark night, I will tell you that you will come through, and it will be brighter on the other side than you can imagine.)

During that particularly dark, dark night, I began Continue Reading »

What the cluck!

What if someone told you that you’re covered in chicken feathers? Would you freak out and immediately begin plucking? Or would you go about your business because you know how ridiculous such a suggestion would be? And would it matter how much the person might seem to believe it’s true or how often they say it?

We would only feel upset by this if we Continue Reading »

Beautiful you…

I am not referring to how smooth your skin is, your hair, the color of your teeth, or the shape of your body.

You are so much Continue Reading »
