I’m a recovering serious person who, from a very early age, was certain I had no idea how any of this works or what to do with my life. While in graduate school pursuing a “professionalstudent” degree, I discovered I could paint just about anything. I went on to become “an internationally unknown fine artist.” A profession I enjoyed immensely. At one point I passed through a particularly challenging period, during which to my dismay, I found I no longer wanted to make art and sincerely thought I would never paint again. My large art supply collection gathered dust and was eventually stored away. Then one day, I began doodling for no particular reason and the little characters Princess Sassy Pants and the Pup were born.
What started as a doodle, now reaches several million people a week. I am constantly amazed by the adventures the Princess has taken me on and am deeply grateful. Many times in my life I’ve witnessed how the tiniest moves can gain unexpected momentum. I often write about this very thing because I think we all need to be reminded that, unless you’re a sports car, you probably won’t go from zero to sixty overnight. No matter what, we all have to start somewhere and we can all do that no matter how small the first move.
The trajectory my life has taken is probably more surprising to me than anyone. If my fairy godmother had told me a few years ago that I would be doing what I’m doing now, I would have told her she should probably stop drinking her fairy dust! But that’s really how it works–the good stuff, the stuff that really brings real joy in life are those things we just can’t plan. I certainly would have never imagined I would create fat-free, gluten-free, and very sorry to say, sugar and caffeine free works that would amazingly somehow feed some people!
This all began as a tool for my own healing; I paint and write about the things I’ve learned, things I want to be reminded of, and things that make me laugh or smile. I’ve learned that laughter and even the tiniest smile can be incredibly healing. It’s really been my own journal among other things–the Princess & the Pup are me and my little Maltese (whose “stage name” is Prince Pup).
When someone asks me what I do, I tell them I am an “Inspirational Illustwriter.” I have received countless messages from people who tell me how these little images and messages have helped them in some way. My heart melts and I feel utterly humbled each time I read that the Princess and her pals have brought some sense of hope and solace to someone who is experiencing deep challenges. I firmly believe that when we do what we love, we help others and when we help others, we help ourselves.
Thank you so much for sharing your talent with all of us!!! I just love your paintings and they are so inspirational and darling!!!! ❤️

I happened across You on Instagram a few months ago and was immediately hooked.
I am going through a challenging time since My Husband, My Forever Partner & SoulMate adorned His Angelic Wings😇 1 year ago in 2021. This has affected all areas of My life, (not looking for sympathy here). I miss His physical presence oh so very much, Forever & Always.
I am now experiencing My own new “Wings”. I am more like a “Pig who can fly”🐷 😂 than a Butterfly but embracing My flight nonetheless.
I hope to hope to “rub” off on Others close to Me some Colour & Light and Positivity.and
Your Beautiful and Inspirational Words and Artwork sure do hit home. Very Helpful indeed. Your sweet Pup reminds Me of My Zoie, the sweetest little mixed breed, who also gained Her Angelic Wings 6 years ago and is Forever missed and in My Heart. Thanks again so much for sharing🌻

I’m in the middle of high school, and it’s really hard, cause I want to either become a professional ballerina or an artist, like you! 🙂 But I’m only in level 4 in ballet, and I’m having a tough time improving. But my art skills are apparently really good, cause everyone keeps telling me to right a book, and then put my drawings in it to help tell the story. So that’s my problem. 😕 Anyways, I really love your artwork your amazing, your sure living the dream!!!!! 🙂

As our tumor is rare, the doctors haven’t been interested in research, so we are trying to raise funds for the research to try & prevent future babies from being born with this horrible tumor. If you could please contact me at the email below, many, many people would appreciate it.

Hi, I am blessed to read your story. You are a talented writer with ability to present nit just your life and feelings but that of many. I live near Birmingham. I also own Maltese, several of them. Does the Princess Sassy Pants and Co. have an actual address location? I have an idea, and it rolls into the Princess her pup and what she conveys about inner makings of people and the walk in life. I would love to meet with you and and share. Or possibly a phone conversation, at first, if meeting is not possible. My idea could in time introduce the Princess and Prince Pup to a magnitude of people in one small idea/event.
And if this is not possible, may I have permission to copy one of the prints to put on a card/coaster to distribute at a banquet? I am not sure which one, as I am hoping you will put my idea to paper. Please trust it is a beautiful theme and your story tells me you would agree.
Thank you for your time. Have a wonderful day.

Beautiful experiences Jane, of how the small self is evolving into the Higher Self. The losses felt are the illusory ‘boundaries’ of the small ego and self falling away — that confine us in the material world. The saints, sages and seers call this ‘identification’ (with the object of perception). When the fullness of Cosmic Consciousness dawns, then the fullness and bliss of the higher Self is experienced, and we don’t identify with objects of perception anymore. Sometimes this ‘loss’ feels like we are losing interest in life, but actually we become more involved because when the boundaries fall away, then true freedom dawns! Then we can live and love without feeling ‘pinched’. Then comes God Consciousness, Unity Consciousness, and the most sublime Brahman Consciousness. You describe this evolution beautifully! The state of ignorance has evolved into the state of knowledge. This is how life should be lived. Welcome to the Age of Enlightenment! Be still, and in your silence, know that you are God.
