Although they are familiar, I realized that comfort zones aren’t really all that comfortable, and to find what I deeply long for, I must be willing to step out of these not-so-comfortable comfort zones.

The familiar is what we know by definition. It follows that when we leave the familiar, we enter the unknown, which can be scary, but this is where indescribable wonders are found.

I don’t know about you, but I can tend to cling to earthly branches while the endless sky is beckoning me to take flight. Continue Reading »

“Why am I here?” I asked inwardly. I had been living in a deep spiritual state for quite some time when every door closed, and I had the choice between living on the street or staying with my dad. Dad and I had a long history of hostility. We were left with him after mom passed; he had a lot of demons and was an abusive alcoholic. I saw him through kinder and gentler eyes after I began having profound spiritual experiences, but I still didn’t want to live with him. God had other plans.

“You are here for a reason,” the inner Voice that had become so familiar to me responded, and I KNEW I was right where I needed to be.

Over the next several months, dad and I baked together and laughed while I redecorated his house. One day as he stood in the living room doorway teasing me, I knew he wouldn’t be here much longer. Continue Reading »

I rarely quote others, but this is one of my favorite quotes. Macrina Weiderkher was a Benedictine monastic of St. Scholastica Monastery.

Most aren’t even aware of this, but we believe that if we look within, we will find the truth about ourselves and that this will be too terrible to behold. Furthermore, we often believe that to think this of ourselves is humility, and to believe in our beauty is arrogant. Continue Reading »

I wonder if the caterpillar is aware that it is literally falling to pieces when it’s in the chrysalis. Does it become afraid? Does it think that things have really gone seriously wrong? Does it sit and plan how it will return to “normal,” inching along on the ground? What is happening certainly can’t make any sense to it while it’s happening. Only as it finally emerges and takes flight could it possibly see that it was very mistaken. It could have simply rested in trust all along.

Things are often not as they appear; sometimes, what looks like falling apart is a preparation for a whole new experience. The old ways are sometimes simply out of alignment with the new ones forming, and they need to crumble to make room.

I’ve experienced this a few times, Continue Reading »

Bonjour!

Bonjour!

My little heart’s nudges are leading me to Paris! Sadly, Prince Pucci will not be joining us, but he will be well taken care of.

I’m most looking forward to indulging in a lot of croissants, pastries…and Chanel.

Is your heart leading you to go on any adventures?

Winds may blow…

Winter is letting us know it’s not over yet where I am. I love winter. Ice storms? Not so much, but they can be beautiful if you don’t have to go out in them.

Appreciate the things with real value today. The more we appreciate them, look for them and express them, the more they grow in and around us.

It’s a new day!

It’s a new day! It’s unwritten and a new adventure. The past only mucks it up if we stay on yesterday’s page.
Can you find Prince Pucci?

Oopsie.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

The love we seek is seeking us; it’s always been inside, waiting for an invitation.

She searched here, there, and everywhere and discovered that all she had been seeking was within her all along.

All the failures weren’t failures at all; she had just been looking in the wrong place. In order to find something, anything, one must look to where it exists. Don’t look outside of yourself, and you’ll find everything you long for…and so much more.
