I felt a deep sense of discontent. There was a hole that nothing seemed to fill. I had literally searched everywhere for some sense of, well, I didn’t even know what I was searching for; I just wanted to feel something other than various degrees of the same misery. Every time I set my sights on a direction, I thought, “THIS is the way!” but I eventually ended up feeling disappointed yet again. It was like they all ended the same way–like sand in my hand.
I searched everywhere, but they all eventually had the same result. There was only one place I had yet to look…within. I had no clue what I was doing or what I was looking for, but as it turns out, you don’t have to. In fact, the more comfortable you are with not having a clue, the easier it is. It was here that I began to see the first tiny glimmers of real hope.
And then, one day, it was like the world unzipped, and I could see beyond its facade. In one instant, I saw things beyond words. It became clear that I couldn’t find what I was looking for in all those faces and places I had been searching because it wasn’t there; it was within me all along.
You carry everything with you…all the time. It’s never been apart from you, but the more we insist it’s outside somewhere, the more disappointed we become.
No matter how much of the perfect “Instagram life” we might have, we will never be truly satisfied because it’s just too small, and it’s all like sand in our hands, no matter how great it might all seem at first.
The good news is that real contentment and fulfillment ARE available; we just have to look for them where they have always been waiting for us.

I get it. It lingers but I always choose the light and seek inner peace.
