Peace is a choice. I’m in no way suggesting to stuff down resentments or be afraid of them, but it is important to get very clear that we can’t hold on to them AND have peace.
It can even help to hold them right up next to each other in your mind’s eye with the understanding that peace is a choice you can make, but you can’t have both, for they deny one another.
Do I want peace or this resentment? What has this resentment really given me? What do I gain by holding onto this? More importantly, what am I losing by holding onto it?
If you aren’t ready to choose peace, don’t fight yourself, but try again later. It’s okay. You can even inwardly ask for help to see that peace is what you really want so that the choice becomes easy. This can take practice and the actual experience of real peace so you can really see what you’re choosing between. As always, be gentle with yourself and yet determined.
This idea can kick up some crap, but the truth is that nobody and nothing can take our peace from us. It is always our choice to keep it or give it away. We always hold the key.
You had the power all along.
