I read a story a long time ago about a man who was miserable and knew he needed to make a change. He decided to look for something good in everyone he met. That morning, a man who had clearly not bathed in quite some time walked into his business. The businessman struggled to find something good in him but noticed his shoelaces were beautifully and perfectly tied. He talked with the man while focusing on his shoelaces.
A couple of weeks later, a well-dressed man walked in and approached the businessman. “You probably don’t recognize me. I came in a couple of weeks ago at the lowest point of my life. I was on my way to the bridge down the road to end it all but decided that if I found any kindness on my way, I would not jump. Your kindness to me that day was the reason I didn’t jump. I began to see things differently after that, and things began to turn around.”
There is a light in everyone, no matter how it might seem. Everyone is walking around, hoping someone will recognize the light in them and not stop at what they appear to be on the surface. We all want to be seen.
The beautiful thing is that when we look for the light in others, we release our light too, which remains hidden to the degree that we refuse to recognize it in others. We feel seen as we see the light in others.
But don’t take my word for it. Take this into the laboratory of your own life and try it for yourself. Be determined to see the light in everyone you meet today (both in person or in thought) and see what happens.
Greet everyone silently today, “I want to see the light in you and not what you appear to be on the surface. Your light is my light, and mine is yours.”
Thank you Princess! I will try this today.I pray that you have a blessed day!😊🙏🏻
