New tomorrows are never found by dragging yesterday into another day. They are found to the degree we allow room for new beginnings today.
Letting go of the past is a moment-to-moment process that takes practice. It’s not something we need to or can do alone; we need help and inner guidance.
We actually see everything through the lens of the past. If I look at a flower, I see all my past ideas and all that I’ve experienced and learned about flowers, and this is all from the past. I wouldn’t even know to call it a flower if I hadn’t learned that in the past.
When we see a flower (or anything) without the past, we see it through what might be called “spiritual vision.” What we behold then is unlike anything we have ever seen. It is incomprehensibly beautiful.
One way to practice this is simply by asking, “Help me to see this differently. Please help me see it as it is and not how I see it. I want to see this differently.” We can do this with anything and everything.
This is what it really means to “be in the moment.” This moment has an indescribably beautiful song it wants you to hear. It is only waiting for your invitation. You don’t have to wait for it. It is always singing, no matter how things might look.
With Spring finally arriving and flowers blooming I feel nothing but absolute relief and joy. Somewhere in all the muck and yuck I’ve lived through (and it’s a lot!) I believe a goddess is pulling me into a place of beauty. It’s a gift. I hope I can create some something for others who need a Shangra-la if they are experiencing the depths of despair.
