I started meditating many years ago during yet another very challenging period. I had tried everything and had looked under every rock for some sense of solace and found none. I had no idea what I was doing when I began; all I knew was that the only place I hadn’t looked was within and that I had nothing to lose by trying. Maybe due to the desperation I felt, or perhaps it was some other reason that I have no knowledge of, but the first time I attempted meditating, I had a profound experience and knew that this is where I would find the answers I longed for. I haven’t found a remedy to anything better than getting quiet and listening within.
I’ve come to see that “prayer” isn’t asking for anything but is listening within to feel the presence of the Divine (by whatever name resonates with you). It doesn’t need to hear me, and I certainly don’t need to beg for anything. I need to listen, and the Divine always wants me to hear. Its language is peace.
You don’t need to know how; you just need to be willing to listen within because you recognize in whatever measure you don’t know. The “how” will unfold.
And you don’t have to be on your knees (physically) or sit any particular way for it to be effective.
Being TRUE TO YOURSELF by trying.
It doesn’t feel familiar when you first get the idea. Boy does this ring so well within.
