Better days don’t just come; they require our participation, our willingness to allow them to come into our experience. It’s not blind faith or some sort of wishcraft. Better days tomorrow are found by what I do today, in this moment. Every moment offers a fresh opportunity for these “better days,” but it’s something I have to actively choose by being willing to listen within and follow in the way I am led. This leading is sometimes about doing something, but it’s more often about learning how to SEE things differently. The “doing” part just naturally follows from seeing differently. New beginnings come from seeing things through new eyes.
The most powerful changes I have seen are when I am determined to see others differently—to see the light in them regardless of how dim or nonexistent that light might seem. It’s as though everyone is standing behind a dark glass. This dark glass is how they seem to be, how they appear to be. They are standing behind it, knocking on the glass, “Please don’t look at how I appear to be. Please look beyond this dark glass and see me.”
Everyone we meet is standing behind a dark glass knocking, wanting to be seen for the light they really are. And the beautiful thing is that when we are willing to look through this glass to the light that is always shining behind it, it is our self that we set free. It’s our own light that begins to shine forth.
In this, you can have complete faith there won’t just be better days tomorrow, but they will be filled with inexplicable, mind-blowing experiences. But don’t take my word for it. Be determined to find out for yourself. Just remember that we don’t need to know how to do this; we need only want to see. The how will be revealed when we really want it–when we begin to accept that this benefits us to do this, and that we don’t want the cost of not doing.

I’m not sure if you’re saying that you’ve been saying, “See me,” or if you’re saying that you see others in this way. If you are saying that you feel like YOU are behind the dark glass hoping to be seen (which is what we are all doing whether we are aware of it or not), then the way to find your freedom is to begin to look for the light behind the dark glass of others. The more we practice this and see it, the more light we release into our own experience. (Just a little note: The greatest opportunities for our own healing lie with those we want to do this with the least. But it’s okay not to start with them.)
It can seem strange and counterintuitive, but if we think we have any need, the way to heal that sense of lack is by giving the very things or ideas we think we need. This doesn’t necessarily mean we will be called to do something, but we might be. For example, if I think I lack friendship in my life, I need to begin to express the qualities of friendship in any way I can–kindness, consideration, playfulness, listening, etc. I can do these things whether I see other people or not. I can extend kindness in thought to someone who I’ve judged. I can consider the postal carrier and clear the walkway. I can stand in front of the television and dance around playfully when a song comes on. I can make a point to listen within more often. The point is to give/express but without an expectation of return. As soon as we look for a return, we are not in reciprocity which is a contract rather than giving. It’s also not giving to think of it as a sacrifice or that we are a martyr. xo
