You might ask how do I use challenges and problems to shine brighter? The prospect may not seem to make sense as we are so used to seeking to avoid them, trying to get rid of them, or just denying them outright. If we’re really honest with ourselves, though, this “method” doesn’t work for as we put out one flame, there always seems to be another fire that pops up in just another form.

I saw this pattern many years ago and came to the conclusion that if I just continue to do things the way I have always been doing them, I would continue to experience the same results. I had no idea what other options there were or how to find them; I just knew that I didn’t want to continue in the way I had been going. I had the tiniest bit of hope and faith that maybe there was a different and better way.

It might seem crazy and far too simple, but this is all that is needed. This tiny crack is an invitation for that light to enter, and once it enters, it leads us in the perfect way for each of us, growing brighter and brighter as we go.

There simply are no words that can describe what we find when that light shines within. It must be directly experienced to be understood. Words are so inadequate and so tiny compared to direct experience.

We do not need to know the how, what, or where. In fact, the more we can accept that we don’t know, the more open we are to receiving the light of understanding. Just this simple opening is all that is needed: “Maybe there is another way of looking at these things? Maybe there is a better way? I know that I don’t like how I feel and see things now. What do I have to lose by asking?”

These things we call problems are like a knocking at our door, telling us we need to allow the light to enter. Most of us need these things because if everything were always hunky-dory, we would just continue in the way we’re going; we would be settling for the tiniest crumbs when our destiny is an infinite banquet. It’s just too small. We are worthy of soooo much more than we can humanly comprehend, and there is a light within each of us that knows this that will knock until we open the door…thankfully.
