I rarely quote others, but this is one of my favorite quotes. Macrina Weiderkher was a Benedictine monastic of St. Scholastica Monastery.
Most aren’t even aware of this, but we believe that if we look within, we will find the truth about ourselves and that this will be too terrible to behold. Furthermore, we often believe that to think this of ourselves is humility.
On the contrary, what we actually find when plunge into the inner depths is incomprehensibly beautiful. It’s not arrogance that sees this; we had nothing to do with the beauty that we are. It’s not something we made ourselves into. We had nothing to do with it. It’s what we were created to be…and forgot.
We are like a computer created to be a computer but that mistakenly believed it could change itself into a chair. The computer can’t actually change itself into a chair, but it can believe it is a chair and now must wake up and remember what it has always been. Just like that computer that was created to compute, we were created to be utterly beautiful.
You are beautiful, and there is nothing you can do about it.
Dear Diane, I hope you come to my comment. Im so sorry you endured the pain and suffering for so long.
Here’s to light, love and peace. Wishing you healing.

Sadly all throughout my childhood, my mother told me I was ugly. I married at age 17 number one, to get away from her and number two, because the guy I was with told me I was pretty…until after we married…I realized what a monster HE was, just as abusive as my mother. He called me names all the time. Finally after 25 years, I divorced him. Then three years after that, I met someone who called me his Princess. He treated me like gold. He was so kind…and made me believe I was a good person. Sadly, he died last year of COPD. I feel so lost without him, but…maybe God sent him to me, to heal me…my only wish is that he is still here. ❤
