Letting go can be scary because we step into the unknown; we let go of what is familiar and step out of our comfort zone. If we really look, we can see that comfort zones are often not that comfortable; they are just familiar.
I’ve discovered that many times it’s when the pain of staying in my “comfort zone” becomes greater than my fear of the unknown, I am willing to take the leap. It is when I leap that I find I had wings all along. The more I’ve done this, the less I’m afraid of the unknown, and I don’t need the pain to squeeze me to leap. I am willing to let go and jump more quickly because I know the unknown has beautiful things to show me. I want to go.
Be gentle with yourself if you’re not there yet. It’s not something we can force, but we can begin to ask ourselves if maybe holding on is actually harder and more painful than letting go. Just asking this question with honesty and reflection will begin to open the way.
