It’s not hard to see that we didn’t make ourselves. I surely didn’t sit in the womb and knit myself fingers and toes or anything else for that matter. Clearly, something bigger has a hand in things. It would make sense that I would need to ask that which created me what I am rather than thinking I could be something different. To think I could be different than what I was created to be would be like a computer believing it could be chair. It’s not. It was created to be a computer so it must be and do what it was created to be. It simply can’t decide to be something else and actually be that. To believe we can be anything but beautiful and glorious is no different than that crazy computer, however much it might seem to be true sometimes.
Many things seem to be one way and aren’t. The sun seems to disappear at night but it still sits perfectly in place. The road seems to come together in the distance. Trees look dead in the winter. Even the world looks like it’s flat when looking on the horizon. Just because something appears to be true, doesn’t make it true. The truth is that we are beyond fabulous, beyond beautiful. Not by our own making, but because it’s the truth that we were created to be, evidence notwithstanding. This is true humility. But don’t take my word for it. Try it on for yourself. Let yourself sink into this as a possiblity and allow this truth to show you that it’s what you are. It will. It will if we just give it a little space to do so. It’s always patiently whispering and waiting for our slightest invitation. It patiently waits for us to be willing to question the very limited and false perceptions we have of ourselves and one another. It patiently waits for us to allow a tiny crack in what we think we know with such certainty and to accept instead that we are glorious…and there’s nothing we can do about it.
Stay Happy, Stay True, Stay Strong… my wish for you!
