The more love we give, the more love we see we have. The more we pour out the more we feeeel. The beautiful thing is that nothing can take away our decision to give love. When we decide to withhold love, it is our own decision and it’s ourself we hurt. It hurts because we ARE love and so we’re like a beautiful flower trying to be a clump of dirt. We can’t really be what we aren’t and all our attempts to be, just causes us pain.
One way I practice this is by pausing when I feel something other than love such as anger, resentment, or fear, and say to myself, “I can feel love instead of this ________. I want to feel love instead of this. It is my own decision and nothing can take this from me. I don’t like the way I feel now so allowing myself to feel love is in my own best interest.”
There are many things that might seem to make withholding love seem justified; it can even seem to be in our own best interest. When we see it’s the love WE withhold that causes us pain, we become more willing to let go and open a way for the love to shine in our heart…no matter what. With love comes peace, and joy, and healing, and everything that has any real meaning. xo
