I shared something a couple of days ago about how others often only see us through the lens of their past experiences of us.  The point of this post was not about how others see us, however; it was about how we do the same thing to others. It was about opening our own minds to seeing others in a new light. 

Pointing the finger at others, a person, or a group as the cause of our suffering is a real crowd-pleaser, but the problem is that it never works; it never brings us any real sense of peace or happiness.  I am never suggesting that this is the way.

I have learned to take the suggestions that something or someone needs to be different for me to be happy and use them to help point me in the direction where I can find a real sense of happiness and peace.  Continue Reading »

Better days don’t just come; they aren’t found because a clock ticks and time passes. They require our participation, our willingness to allow them to come into our experience. It’s not blind faith or some sort of wishcraft.

Better days tomorrow are found by what I do today, in this moment. Every moment offers a fresh opportunity for these “better days,” but it’s something I have to actively choose by being willing to listen within and follow in the way I am led.  This leading is sometimes about doing something, but it’s more often about learning how to see things differently. The “doing” part just naturally follows from seeing differently. New beginnings come from seeing through new eyes.

I was recently invited to my high school class reunion, and it got me thinking about something that often ponder. I don’t remember a lot from those years, as it was a very traumatic time for me; there are only tiny snippets of memories. Nevertheless, when I look back, it feels like I’ve lived hundreds of lives since then. I don’t know if I’d recognize that young woman if I saw her on the street, and yet this is the person my classmates probably still think of as me. What else would they have to go on?
