I need this today. I’ve been in the midst of the craziest, most challenging move (to Napa Valley) I’ve ever experienced. I’m taking my first real rest day today, and I’m not sure I remember how to do that. Gasp!
Rest. Lay down your struggles and rest. If only for a moment. You are loved and cared for beyond comprehension. Right here. Right now. No matter what it might look like, this is still the only truth. Rest.
Your heart is always singing this song to you and only wants you to hear its sweet melody. It will never stop singing to you. Nothing you can do or ever have done could change this.
How do you rest your mind? There are many, many ways to do this, but one way is this: Get comfy (but not too comfy so that you fall asleep). Tell yourself that you’re going to set down your worries and thoughts about the past and future for the next two, five, or ten minutes. Tell yourself that you can pick these up again when you’re done if you want to.
Imagine yourself in whatever scenario or using whatever symbols that help you feel a sense of comfort and peace. If Jesus is a comfort to you, imagine you are resting your head on his shoulders under an old olive tree. If the Universe is the symbol that resonates with you, you might see yourself lying in a field at night, watching the stars as they twinkle just for you. If nature is your peaceful place, lying in a garden on the soft grass and listening to the birds sing might be helpful. It does not matter what symbols you use. Whatever helps you feel peaceful and comforted and gives you a sense of inner rest is good.
Rest in your peaceful place and listen. Try not to ask for anything or give instructions about what you think you need or want. Just listen. This place of peace and rest will carry you.
Awww, so happy for you! No more Michigan winters! I would love to live in the warm! Again, but a place with no bugs! That would be perfect! Blessings and Love be yours, always!

Napa Valley is a beautiful area, very expensive, but beautiful nevertheless. Jane your artwork is so whimsical & happy. Thank you for your constant encouragement. I moved from that area in 1999 (Petaluma & Sonoma) to beautiful East Tennessee. Once you are settled visit Yountville & don’t miss a chance to go to Yosemite!!!
