When we hold onto what needs to fall away and keep looking in the rearview mirror, we miss the new blossoms coming into view. There are always new blossoms, but we can’t see them as long as we are looking in the opposite direction.
As we begin to take our focus off of the past, we can sometimes feel sad and myriad of other feelings. That’s okay. Allow these thoughts and feelings; don’t fight them. Don’t try to change them, get rid of them, or spackle over them with “positive thoughts.”
When we don’t fight these thoughts and feelings, we are lifted above the road and gain a whole new perspective. This is what it’s like to live in the present.

I’ve come a long way in the last year, mostly in the past few months (Thankfully!) and have loved your wisdom. Life isn’t neat and perfectly tidy. It’s messy and complicated at times and I’m right in the middle of it.
At my age I love owning up to my crazies and imperfections. I embrace it. I accept my cracked, quirky, disheveled self. The more I embrace it the more I enjoy living.
Embrace your imperfect self. I’m learning to and I no longer apologize for it. It’s very freeing.
