Yes, I have searched frantically for my phone while talking on my phone. Like many of us, I have also done the same with my glasses resting on the top of my head all along.
Most of us are driving through life, searching for the gifts that are sitting on the roof of our car. It’s not personal; we just have to learn how to see what is already ours–what is already given.
There’s also always more; when we focus on getting more too much, it can be like the proverbial carrot we never reach. Satisfaction isn’t found in seeking more; it’s found by genuinely appreciating all that’s already in our lives today, this minute…every minute.
I know all of this can be challenging when it looks like we need more- more money, love, beauty, health- but the beautiful thing is that as we focus on appreciating what we have, more starts to show up. (As long as we aren’t doing it in order to get more.)
Focusing on being grateful for all that I had was a full-time job during those times in my life when it really looked like I needed more. When, on any given day, I had only some change in my pocket with no promise of more and was essentially homeless, carless, and jobless. It was work. I dedicated myself to this. It was the only way I didn’t slip into a dark abyss of sheer terror.
I actually found that even though it looked pretty bad, I could find a sense of real peace. And slowly, at first, everything began to align with the truth that I saw within…that we are never without anything we need.
The only real need we ever have is to feel a true sense of inner peace. Think carefully about this: Does anything else really matter if you have peace? And when you have peace, your life begins to more clearly reflect peace in all ways.
I give thanks for the gift 💝 of you SM. I will cherish that gift forever. IWALU 🌹✨🧚♀️❤️
