We are all always being guided. Our guide is always present, but it can take practice to learn how to recognize it and trust it. (Call this guide whatever feels right to you.)

Guidance comes in different ways for me. Sometimes, I feel something similar to butterflies in my chest and stomach. Other times, it feels like (more…)

Not a fairy tale…

I loooove Christmas time. I love everything about it; the twinkling lights make my heart sing, and I can’t wait for it to start snowing! I love snow!

I kept my Christmas tree up for years (oopsie) but took it down a few months ago as most of the twinkle lights burnt out. I have curtain twinkle lights hanging in my office window year-round, as well as a few other Christmas decorations.

As much as I love all these things and more, what I love most is how the season reflects the love that lives in each of us back to us. It’s a celebration of the love that is the truth of each of us (no matter how much it might seem otherwise sometimes). The magic of Christmas lives in each of us and twinkles back to us, nudging us to remember.

Remember what? You, the truth of you, is beautiful beyond comprehension. You don’t have to do anything or be anything in particular to be lovable and worthy. You are. You just are, and there’s nothing you can do about that.

This is still true, no matter what you have ever done or not done. You don’t have the power to change how infinitely valuable you are. It’s an immutable fact and not subject to opinion. And this is no fairy tale.

The end.

Jingling half the way…

I haven’t been as busy with the holidays as I usually am. We went to a restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner (and it was lovely), and I’m doing a little Christmas decorating, but not as much as I usually do.

I’m only doing a little jingling and twinkling this year because I don’t want to be crazy busy. I want to have more time for quiet reflection this holiday season.

For me, this is one of the most important things I do; I simply must take time to go inward; otherwise, I feel like a flower in desperate need of water.

Whether your lights are on the highest setting or are softly glowing, give yourself permission to rest your twinkle today, even for a few minutes. You don’t always have to jingle all the way.

Giving thanks…

I woke up early and have been sitting quietly reading and writing this morning. It’s Thanksgiving here in the USA, and I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you. You are the siphon that draws forth ideas from within me, ideas that are for me as well.

I know many of you will be very busy preparing delectable treats for loved ones today. No matter what you’re doing today, my deepest desire is that all of you see Love in everything today and hear it singing its eternal song of gratitude.

It might be time to sprinkle more gratitude if you’re feeling crappy (and even if you’re not). It’s a conscious practice that can be done in any situation and at any time with guaranteed results. We only have to ask ourselves if we want to feel more peace, joy, happiness, hope, and a deeper sense of fulfillment and connectedness because that’s the result of gratitude.

Sprinkle your gratitude dust today! I’m going to make an even greater conscious effort to turn in this direction, particularly when I’m feeling annoyed or upset by anything today. Join me?

Life’s storms…

We all have storms in life. Sometimes, they’re little, and sometimes, we feel buried over our heads. No matter how big or small the storm, there is a strength within each of us that is greater.

Sometimes bigger storms are a blessing because (more…)

It’s already yours…

Yes, I have searched frantically for my phone while talking on my phone. Like many of us, I have also done the same with my glasses resting on the top of my head all along.

Most of us are driving through life, searching for the gifts that are sitting on the roof of our car. It’s not personal; we just have to learn how to see what is already ours–what is already given. (more…)

Unwrap the moment…

We were in Napa Valley for a while, getting our current house ready to sell. We’ve been building a new house for a few years, and it’s getting close-ish to the finish line.

It has been quite a while since I have been out to see the progress in person; I have been working remotely with the team. Seeing it in person took my breath away. So many great peeps came together to create this exquisite space, particularly our project manager, Justin Lee, who hunted down local artisans to make our vision come to life.

It was a lot of work and very interesting at times. While sifting through belongings I hadn’t seen in some time, I felt a little like I was going through someone else’s things. I knew I had changed, but I’m not sure I knew how much. There were also moments that felt like opening new gifts on Christmas.

I have had many different experiences in life. There have been times when I seemed to have almost nothing and times when I have had a lot. I’m so grateful for both because I’ve learned that real peace and joy aren’t about things…at all. I have felt profound joy and peace at times when I had nothing and profound joy and peace when I’ve had a lot. (I have also felt pain at times in both.) It is possible to experience peace no matter what the situation.

We do not need an “Instagram life” to find peace. In fact, sometimes, this can make it a little more challenging because it can become a distraction from what is truly important.

I’ve had some spiritual students over the years if you will. Invariably, when you begin to seriously see the truth, circumstances in your life begin to improve, sometimes dramatically. When this begins to happen, I’ve often told students that this is when they have to become more vigilant so they stay on track.

I just glanced up and saw the dancing candles I light each morning, and my heart is filled with joy! Join me today in remembering to look for joy?

Always…

The highest prayer that I have experienced is the song of thanks. This prayer asks for nothing in the realization that all has already been given. Words fail to describe the experience, but it’s not gratitude for things but a profound sense of fullness, completion, and joy.

I didn’t start here; it took a long time to learn this way of praying. At first, I (more…)

Life’s detours…

I don’t think anything in my life has gone as I thought it would…thankfully. As it turns out, my ideas of what I wanted and needed were far too small. And even though I’ve seen some magnificent things far beyond my wildest imagination, I know this is still the tippy tip of an infinite iceberg.

We all have ideas of what we need, what we want, and what will make us happy. The problem isn’t that we ask too much of life but (more…)
