
Inner peace isn’t found by searching for a different person, place, thing, condition, or circumstance. I know it can seem like these are the answers to our problems (whatever we see as stealing or threatening our peace).
But if we were really honest with ourselves, we’d see that we believed some outer change was the answer so many times in the past, and yet, we still aren’t experiencing true and lasting peace. Even if one problem seems to be solved, our peace is soon clouded by yet another problem.
This is what I began to see many years ago, and without knowing what I was doing or what the results might be, I began to look within. I had looked everywhere else; I had looked to just about every outer change one could think of, but real peace remained elusive.
As you go about your day, notice when your mind wanders to suggestions that you need to do something other than what you’re doing, be somewhere other than where you are, or with someone other than who you’re with. When you notice your mind wanders to any thoughts that something “out there” needs to be different for you to feel better, be happy, safe, etc., just take a brief moment and gently remind yourself that peace lives within you, therefore, it goes with you wherever you go, and must be present right here and now.
Do this just for a few seconds or a minute whenever you notice these thoughts, and then go about your day.
It’s okay if you don’t feel any more peaceful. Feelings are the caboose. You are learning how to fuel the engine. This is a practice and takes dedication.
Try it for a while, maybe a few weeks, and find out if you don’t begin to feel more peaceful right where you are. Wherever that might be.


My Al-anon sponsor suggested to stay present in my moments and life, I must stay right where my feet are.
Know right here right now I am exactly where I’m supposed to be, I am safe, I am okay and just breathe in and out.
Thank you for Jane for opening up and sharing your stories and what has and hasn’t worked for you, for me I need to have a conscious contact with my HP, fully surrender over the fear or what ifs and self doubt, another thing that has helped me is the amazing idea of I can turn my day around at any time, by simply stepping back mary go round I was on and sitting quietly finding myself inside and just simply breathe in and out. 🙏🏽🧘🏼♀️✨🕊️🥰
