Everyone has faith. Every time I sit in a chair, I have faith that it will hold me up. This isn’t wishcraft or blind faith; my faith is based on my many experiences of sitting in chairs.
Faith comes with experience, so it’s okay to be afraid of failing at something new. When I see those fears rear up, I don’t fight them; I try to just notice them or even give them a minute to have their say, and then I listen deeper.
Just beneath that voice is another voice–an infinitely wise voice that is patient and calm. That’s the voice that knows. That’s the voice that can be trusted, and with practice, we can learn through experience that putting faith in that voice is fully justified. It will always hold us up; sometimes, we might even fly.
