There is a sweet song forever singing in your heart, a light within each of us that is always shining, and our stories are like clouds that obscure this light from our view and muffle its melody.
When we feel anything other than true peace, we are caught in our stories. What happened, what didn’t happen, and what someone did or didn’t do are all based in the past. What we want to happen, hope will happen, and are afraid will happen are all based in the future. We hopscotch between these stories, overlooking the present where this eternal song sings and the light is always shining. This light holds more peace, joy, fulfillment, safety, and love in the tiniest ray than even our most cherished stories.
It usually takes practice to see this; we are often very attached to our stories, even though they can cause tremendous pain. We don’t have to let them go completely to see this light and hear its gentle refrain; we need only to be willing to rest from them and set them aside for even a moment. And even this, we do not do alone.
Listen and trust; there is a light within you that WANTS you to hear its song, a gentle lullaby that will wash through you, and you will know you can never be alone.
