Shhh…

Listen to the silence…there’s so much it wants to say to you.

Follow your inner twinkle…

There’s something within each of us that is guiding us all the time. Call it whatever feels right to you. It’s always present, but it can take practice to learn how to recognize it and trust it.

Sometimes I feel something similar to butterflies in my chest and stomach when I’m being led. Other times it feels like warm water rushes through me, and sometimes it’s an inner knowing. There are also times when it’s a clear inner voice. It’s clearer than an audible voice when this happens and comes with a deep sense of peace and certainty.

Years ago, my focus was on wanting to know what to do, but now, I just want to feel its presence with me. I know that experiencing its presence is all that really matters; if there’s anything to do, it just naturally follows from this.

One thing I began to notice years ago is that I seemed to be guided in two different ways–through pain or joy. If I couldn’t hear, didn’t listen, or before I knew how to do it, I was squeezed in the direction I needed to go, and this was often painful. If I listened, the feeling was like following what felt even the littlest bit joyful inside. The key is learning to trust it so that you want to listen even when it doesn’t seem to make sense, and you haven’t a clue where it’s leading you.

That’s actually how PSP&Co. started; I was experiencing a very dark period in my life, and nothing, and I do mean nothing felt joyful. One day I started doodling and created the Princess and the Pup. It was the only thing that had felt even the tiniest bit joyful in some time, so I kept doing it (sometimes 18 hours a day). Now she has over a million followers on her social platforms.

I didn’t set out to do any of it; I just followed what made my heart twinkle. In fact, I had been a professional fine artist for years prior to this, but I felt like I never wanted to paint again.

A few lessons from a Christmas tree:
🌲
Twinkle
🌲
Share your gifts
🌲
Bring joy to others.
🌲
Be a light in the darkness.
🌲
We all fall over sometimes.
🌲
You were born to sparkle…even in your garland’s a little droopy.
🌲
It’s okay to be a little tilted.

I’m going to rest my droopy garland and slightly tilted self today, enjoy my twinkle lights, read, and reflect. It might be a Jammies-All-Day, day.

Jingle Bells…or not.

It’s okay if your jingle gives out halfway; jingling ALL the way is overrated anyway.

jingle bells, jingle bells,
jingle half the way…

I kinda like it.

Look for the miracles and magic that are all around today. I know this can seem cliche, but there’s truth to this. Acknowledge Love’s presence in everything, and your heart will begin to be filled with joy from the littlest things to the biggest.

There’s an exercise that I often do: I look around slowly wherever I might be and let my eyes rest for a moment on the things in my view. I lay aside my ideas of what is better or more beautiful and what is bad or good. I just calmly move from one thing to another as I think to myself, “Love is in everything I see.” (more…)

Never alone…

We are never alone and cannot be apart–no matter how it might look. So many of those I love have passed. My mother died when I was thirteen, so I’ve had to begin to come to terms with the idea of loss at a very young age.

After my father passed some years later, I began to see these relationships don’t end; they just change form. The morning after he passed, I awoke to a feeling within me that took me a minute to identify; It was him communicating with me. (more…)

Hello December!

There’s magic in the air! I can’t wait for blankets of snow! I love the snow in the early morning when everything is quiet and the twinkle lights on the trees glow beneath it. Although it might be cold outside, it’s like hot cocoa for my soul.

What are some of your favorite things about December and the holiday season?
