We’re inching toward our move. The house looks like Stonehenge with pillars of boxes forming as the packers work away here (Prince Pucci has been working on biting their toes), and there’s been a flurry of activity at the new house as the builder works to finish everything in time. It’s both exciting and a huge pain in the “sass.”
I find moving very stressful (as many people do) but I also find that if I keep my focus on appreciation and gratitude, and take some time in the morning to sit quietly and listen within, stressful times can also be great opportunities for deeper experiences. The beautiful thing about being “stuck between a rock and a hard place” is that we have two choices: either stay stuck and in pain or go within and find a peace that transcends both the rock and the hard place. The gifts we can find by going within so far exceed any pleasant circumstances. We can emerge from these challenges with a deep sense of gratitude for them as they were the catalyst that urged us to search within.
Although I wouldn’t consider moving a big problem necessarily, I have had many deep, deep challenges in my life. There’s not one, not one, that I have not eventually felt genuinely grateful for. I’ve learned that whether the problem seems big or small, I can see it as an opportunity to find these gifts. With some it might seem to take longer to find them than with others and we might have to dig deeper, but grab a shovel because it’s worth every effort.
So today I’m focusing on a sense of appreciation for the many wonderful things in my life, but also, and maybe more importantly, I’m appreciative of all the challenges that have motivated me to find a place within filled with inexplicable joy and peace. Personally, I wouldn’t trade the challenges for anything. xo

I so agree with you, following the path of faith will deliver you in the right place, enjoy and feel blessed for the ride.

I moved weeks ago and it wasn’t nice and your daily pictures and words have been helping enormously. I am still surrounded by boxes and it will take more weeks to get sorted but I know I will get there in the end. With gratitude…..T

You need to write an autobiography. I know it would make the top ten on the New York Times.
