Gosh. I’m so happy I read your comments to Lise-Marie. Did you ever consider teaching? Maybe seminars? Your voice of experience should be heard more broadly. I love the Princess & the artwork is divine. Thanks thanks thanks.

Thanks Barbara. I used to teach and give seminars a bit but have been lying low for a quite some time. It feels as though something is happening though and I’m feeling moved to share a bit more than I have in a while. We’ll see…I’m just listening and following. xo

Our heart may be whispering a pathway , but the timing might be off. Maybe those pathways are for later and not necessarily
At the present time.

Indeed, it might not be the right time for a SPECIFIC path but the heart is always whispering its wisdom and often its guidance leads us to see the most profound beauty in what we heretofore had seen as meaningless or mundane.

Perhaps try to think of these nudges to write not as an either/or situation or one where you must write to “make a living.” Believe me I KNOW this can feel counterintuitive as I’ve walked this road many time myself but the more you can let go of the idea that you have to make money doing what you love but can do it simply because you love to do it, the more support you’ll see popping up all around you–including time and financial support. Really, nothing can stop you from doing what is planted in your heart to do. It can seem to be delayed for a bit at times but usually because your idea of how it should look isn’t the way you are to go.
I’ve had many profound spiritual experiences that began many years ago. One of the things that happened after these experiences began was that I discovered I could paint just about anything, but I also deeply felt that I would one day share my experiences and the things I’ve learned from them in writing. I had not one single idea that these things would one day converge into anything that involved Princess’s, tutus and tiaras and that I could actually communicate profound ideas using images of Fairy Godmothers and unicorns. Believe me, this is the last thing I ever thought I would be doing and had anyone suggested it to me, I would have thought they had been riding too many unicorns.
I did these things because I felt a deep sense of joy, albeit while a bit confusing, even while I had no idea where it might lead or if I might fall off of a cliff doing it. (It does often feel like you’re standing on the edge of a precipice when you’re following your heart. I often describe the feeling that I get as being similar to standing in line for a roller coaster as a child–a feeling of butterflies in my stomach mixed with “happy fear.”)
If you were to be honest with yourself wouldn’t you have to admit that you could find ten minutes or twenty minutes to write–even if it’s just writing in a journal or quick little story. I’m not suggesting that this writing would win a pulitzer or catapult you to the top of the NY Times best selling author’s list but it is writing and if writing is truly what you love, you can find the time to do it. If it’s fame, notoriety or fortune (however small), then it’s not really writing that you love–that’s just a means to the other. I’m just trying to help you flush out a little and doing the same things I’ve had to do with myself many times.
Also, perhaps you might begin to look at your present job from the perspective of the writer that you are. Look at the interesting characters and stories in your every day experiences and if you don’t see them, make them up! Give them fun names and let your imagination sore! Be determined. Decide that you are going to see your situation differently. You might find your job becomes much more palatable and it might even be the start of the pathway of your heart. There are no mistakes–you’re at that job to learn something and the lessons we are to learn are always ones of joy however much they can seem otherwise sometimes.
I hope this is helpful. Write on!
Da Princess xo
